H. Thomas Wells Named Fellow of LCA
ABA President-Elect, H. Thomas Wells, Jr., has recently become a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Mr. Wellsis a founding shareholder of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C., in Birmingham, Alabama. He is engaged in a litigation practice with emphasis on administrative, regulatory, environmental, toxic tort law and products liability cases. He has served on numerous committees and in leadership roles in the Alabama State Bar and the American Bar Association. Mr. Wells is currently the President-elect of the American Bar Association and will become the President in August 2008. Wells has served in the ABA’s policy making House of Delegates since 1991 and is the past Chair of the ABA House of Delegates, the second highest office in the American Bar Association. He is also a former Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation, the largest Section in the ABA with over 75,000 members. In addition, he is a frequent speaker and participant in state and national programs dealing with trial and litigation issues. Mr. Wells earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from The University of Alabama where he was President of the Student Government Association and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D. degree, Order of the Coif, from The University of Alabama. He was also a member of the Alabama Law Review and Hugo Black Scholar while in law school.
Mr. Wells is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and is listed in the Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of Environmental Law, Mass Tort Litigation, Energy Law, Natural Resources Law and Product Liability Litigation. He was also listed as one of the Top Ten Lawyers in Alabama for 2008 by Super Lawyers.
